Bollinger Special Cuvée, Champagne
TIS’ THE SEASON TO DRINK BOLLY
Tastes like: Pear. Brioche. Spice. Fresh Walnuts. Velvety Bubbles.
This absolutely fabulous Champagne has been the tipple of choice of famous names from Patsy and Eddy to James Bond 007 and even the late Queen Liz (hence the royal warrant on the bottle!).
This iconic Champagne house has been bottling their special cuvée since 1911 and it’s a clever blend of the most recent harvest wine with a majority of reserve wines which can be up to 15 years old.
Bollinger has around 160 hectares of vineyards, nearly all of which are classified as grand and premier cru, and the wine is a classic combination of 60% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, 15% Pinot Meunier.
Its richness is the result of three years resting on it’s lees giving it a lovely toasty brioche tang.
Bollinger were also the first Champagne producer to achieve the French sustainability accreditation ‘High Environmental Value’ (HEV) and more recently they achieved B Corp status - so this really is bodacious wine with a conscience.
Pure class.
