Pink side of the moon

Miraval is a village that champions sustainability and this ‘second wine’ from the château is made with a keen eye for low-intervention winemaking.

It’s very pale pink in colour with a nose of fresh fruit and citrus and has a fleshy palate with notes of citrus and white flowers and a long finish with salinity. The wine is an even split between Cinsault, Grenache, Tibouren and Rolle (which is known as Vermentino across the border in Italy).

The vineyard is part owned by Brad Pitt but the winemaking is (thankfully) overseen by Famille Perrin who are champions of sustainable winemaking. This wine comes from carefully selected Provence sites and is lower intervention and subsequently lower in sulfites too.

Tucked away in its own private valley, the château is surrounded by ancient woodlands and olive groves. Following ancient Celtic and Roman occupation, the property served as a host to monastic practice and as a home to members of the French court in the 14th century.

Its name harks back to a music studio installed by previous estate owner and musician, Jacques Loussier. The Studio had hosted bands including Pink Floyd and ultimately gave its name to this wonderful drop.
