The name "Ponte Pietra" refers to an old stone bridge in the hills of Verona that dates back to Roman times. The old stone bridge is like the wise old guardian of the city, having witnessed the rise and fall of empires while standing tall over the Adige River. It seemed the perfect name for a wine produced from that region, as the vines too have stood the test of time... it has been said that the vines in the area have thrived long before the bridge spanned over the Adige River.
The Ponte Pietra Red is a blend of two rich and juicy grape varieties (Melot and Corvina) and is made in a Veronese style - meaning it has soft brambly fruit, Cherry Bakewell character, and a hint of sweet spices on a long smooth finish.
