Landwalker Pinot Noir, Te Kano, Central Otago 2023
Sowing The Seeds of Love
Tastes like: Dark cherry. Raspberry. Earthy. Dried Herb. Touch of Smoke. Subtle Oak and Spice.
Lovers of fine Burgundian Pinot Noir - or those who can only dream of affording the most sought after French Crus - can more than scratch their bibulous itch with this premium Pinot from Central Otago.
Our chief sipper Alex has tasted this wine blind alongside some top Burgundy reds as well as judging it for a New Zealand wine competition and it came out on top on both occasions.
The wine is complex, meticulously crafted and comes from winemakers who are genuinely lovely people, who's approach is not only sustainable but regenerative - meaning they strive to leave the soil and eco system in an even better state than when they got it. Grapes are farmed using organic practices.
Te Kano means 'seed' in Māori and The Lloyd Family believe the seeds you sow today will be what blossoms for future generations.
This blend incorporates fruit from three distinct Central Otago areas; 42% Bannockburn, 14% Waitaki, and 44% Northburn. The 100% Pinot Noir is from mixed clones, adding complexity to the final blend. The grapes are hand-harvested and fully destemmed, followed by a long, gentle extraction with minimal skin plunging. The wine is aged for 10 months in French oak barriques (28% new).
