Barossa Grenache, Turned Up To Eleven

Tastes like: Raspberry. Cranberry. Juicy Plum. Dried Citrus. Ginger Spice. Aniseed. Amaro Herbs. Fine Silty Tannins.

Forget everything you think you know about big, heavy Barossa reds. Pax Aeterna takes old-vine Grenache in a completely different direction — bright, breezy and seriously juicy, with loads of fresh red fruit and just enough savoury spice to keep things interesting.

This is a single-vineyard Grenache from Vine Vale in the northern Barossa, made from vines that are over 90 years old and farmed by Kevin Schild. The old vines are planted on sandy soils, producing fruit with plenty of concentration whilst retaining the freshness and lightness that make this particular style of Grenache so ridiculously drinkable.

The 2024 vintage is made in a vibrant Nouveau style, using around 30% whole bunches. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, keeping the focus firmly on the character of the fruit and the vineyard.

And there's plenty going on in the glass. Expect raspberry, cranberry and juicy plum alongside dried citrus peel, ginger spice, aniseed and earthy herbal notes. It's light on its feet but far from simple, with bright acidity, fine silty tannins and a wonderfully savoury finish.

Stick it in the fridge for 20–30 minutes, then crack it open with wood-fired pizza, charcuterie, grilled lamb or a sunny afternoon picnic.
