Little Beauty is a small, independent wine producer whose first vintage was released in 2008. They concentrate on small batch varietal wines that reflect the character of the beautiful Waihopai Valley.
In the vineyard the Little Beauty Gewurztraminer neighbours the Pinot Gris. And they have just a smidgeon planted, 0.92ha. It can be a tricky customer in the vineyard. Requires a lot of TLC in order to get it ripe and in good health for harvest (which is only ever done by hand).
Gewurztraminer originates from the Germanic regions of the world but being a cool climate variety it it well suited to Marlborough’s growing conditions. ‘Gewurz’ in German means spicy so look for these characters in this wine. Star anise, clove, cinnamon combine with exotic fruits like lychee. There’s hints of rosewater and Turkish Delight. This one is A little character, for sure!
