Chardonnay doing exactly what Chardonnay should do. Fresh, fruity, creamy and just a little bit fancy — without disappearing up its own oak barrel.

This comes from Fowles’ vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges and Central Victoria, with the fruit harvested in the cool of the night to hang on to those delicate fruit flavours. A large portion of the 2023 vintage was wild fermented in stainless steel, while 30% was matured in older oak barrels to bring a little extra texture and complexity to the party.

The result? Fresh nectarine, white peach, pear and citrus on a medium-bodied, soft and creamy palate, with some lovely textural oak keeping things interesting. Basically, all the good bits of Chardonnay, without the need to go full butter-and-vanilla blockbuster.

And the clue is very much in the name. The Are You Game? range was created by Fowles to work with food, particularly wild game — so get this alongside pheasant, quail or whatever else you've managed to hunt down. Or, you know, just pour a glass and see where the afternoon takes you.
