We consider ourselves honorary modern day Sancerrois – a name given to the canny folk who were famed for popularising the region’s wines after WW2 by frequenting ubiquitous Paris bistros, marching up to the counter and demanding, "A glass of Sancerre, please!"
This is a fantastic family owned, single vineyard Sancerre. The current generation’s grandfather acquired this superb parcel in 1946 and it’s a super spot.
Les Godons vineyard is blessed with a unique microclimate. It’s a natural amphitheater on a very steep slope, protected from the wind and has a very good exposure to the sun, which results in this stunning expression of the famed Sauvignon Blanc grape.
What's even better about this estate is it has the advantage of being certified HVE (High Environmental Value) plus since 2015 they’re proud to be part of Terra-Vitis, a network of winemakers who share the same values of winemaking – respecting the vines and surrounding environment.
These values match ours at Chilled & Tannin too and it’s why we had to add this stunning wine to our list.
