Château Grand-Pey-Lescours Saint-Émilion Grand Cru 2014
A Grand Cru for you...
Tastes like: Plump. Soft. Ripe Plums. Vanilla. Earthy. Cedar.
Saint-Émilion produces arguably some of the most renowned wines on earth. Here we have the Grand-Pey-Lescours, it is the very definition of consistent quality and value in Saint-Emilion. The 25-hectare estate is located just outside the town on clay-limestone soils which is planted predominantly to Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
Grand Cru Saint-Émiliom at this price is a great buy. This is a wine to be drunk and enjoyed with friends or over a fine dinner. It is ripe and subtle, this is definitely one for Christmas day (which is fast approaching), and does not really need time to prepare itself either. It would be great with turkey as it’s not over powering.
Winemaker Jean-Marie Bouldy only releases his wines once they are ready to drink and this bottle from the superb 2016 vintage is developing nicely and already drinking superbly. Would it benefit even more from another year or two, perhaps. Can you resist though?!
