The 18th century Château de Vaudieu has been in the Bréchet family for over 50 years and Laurent Bréchet, the grandson of the original owner, runs the estate today. The name ‘Vaudieu’ originates from ‘Vallée de Dieu’, or ‘Valley of God’, referencing the area's beauty around Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The ‘Closerie de Vaudieu’, the property’s second wine, making it excellent value but still a tonne of bang for your buck.
It is a blend of 64% Grenache, 21% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, slowly matured in concrete tanks. The fruit is grown on a mixture of the sandier soils - lending aromatic elegance to the blend - and the appellation's trademark ‘galets’ pudding stone, gives power and intensity thanks to their ability to soak up the sun during the hot days and radiate it into the vines at night.
