Bulgaria is hotly tipped to be a wine region to look out for in the coming years, offering immense bang for your buck - but it should come as no surprise that there are top quality wines coming from Bulgarian producers as they have some rather fine pedigree as a winemaking nation on the world stage.

Wine has been produced in Bulgaria since antiquity with archaeological evidence suggesting the area was amongst the earliest wine regions in history. In the 1980s Bulgaria was one of the largest wine markets on the international stage and it's said that Winston Churchill was a huge fan of the red wines too, regularly stocking his cellars with barrels and bottles.

This gold medal winning, sparkling wine comes from the Thracian Lowlands, one of Bulgaria's two PGI recognised quality wine regions, located in the South of the Country and famed for its fertile soils and warm microclimate. Grapes are grown across two vineyards, one of which is organically certified.

Produced from 100% estate-grown Chardonnay using the same revered bottle-fermented methods as Champagne, this floral, rich and generous wine has undergone a long 18 months of lees ageing to give it a delicious, toastiness, with a fine mousse and long finish.
