Baron de Badassière, Carignan IGP Côtes de Thau
Badassière by name, Bad ass by nature
Tastes like: Cassis. Plum. Herbs. Spice. Game. Smooth Tannins.
This tasty red comes from the Picpoul de Pinet region where the warm sunny days and cooling sea breezes allow winemakers to produce ripe yet fresh reds that are just as delicious as the coastal area’s more famous white wines.
Back in the 18th century this vineyard was owned by a colourful character called Baron Charles Emmanuel who was rumoured to be the illegitimate son of King Louis XV and, assumingly, a bit of a bad boy.
Made with the minimum interference to preserve the pure fruit, this unoaked red wine is easy drinking and a delicious expression of the Carignan grape. Summer pudding in a glass!
