Bardolino is sometimes - rather unfairly - overlooked outside of Italy as a bit of a footnote appellation when it comes to the more trendy vini from the Veneto region such as Valpolicella and Prosecco.
You'll find with AOC tucked West of Lake Garda and South of the foothills of the alps where this picturesque stretch of vineyards is steeped in tradition. This wine is a great example, made using a blend three local grape varieties; Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara, giving the wine a wonderful freshness and purity of rasping fruit - 100% glug-a-licious.
Monte del Frà (meaning ‘land of the monks') gets its name from the late 15th century, when a group of Friars formed a monastery on the land. Some hundred years later, the friars leased 25 hectares for the cultivation of vineyards and fruit trees. Fast forward several hundred years and Monte del Frà is now in the very capable hands of the Bonomo family who work towards sustainable practices to preserve the land for centuries to come.
