Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, Trefethen Family Vineyards, Oak Knoll, Napa Valley
Double Dragon
Tastes like: Blackcurrant. Cherry. Blackberry. Bay leaf. Cedar. Leather. Black pepper. Vanilla bean. Full-bodied.
Get your claws into this very special Napa Cab which has just been awarded the BEST IN SHOW AWARD for a second year in a row at the Decanter World Wine Awards – plus it also comes from a family with proudly Welsh roots. Gwych! 🏴
This is a frankly fabulous wine. It’s powerful and brimming with complex character but incredibly balanced and elegant …and while it’s drinking brilliantly now it’ll also age beautifully for a decade or more.
The Trefethens are based in Oak Knoll and have been making a name for themselves since establishing their winery there in the 1960s.
Their much-loved Nana, Catherine, harked from Wales and had a legendary passion for wine which clearly rubbed off on the rest of the family.
The estate has also scooped numerous accolades for its sustainability and the Trefethens take pride in promoting biodiversity of plant and wildlife on the vineyard as well as reducing water use and offsetting all their electricity usage with solar panels.
The wine is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon with a seasoning of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot and spends 18 months in oak, 51% of which is new barrels.
