The Cat’s Out Of The Bag

Tastes like: Soft Red Fruit. Ripe Cherry. Parton Pepper. Sweet Spice. Liquorice. Leather. Smoke. Light Bodied.

Well worth waiting for, this irresistibly tempting wine has been finally been released by our good chums at Ancre Hill Vineyard in Monmouthshire.

Winemaker Richard Morris held off revealing this Welsh wine until it was just right in what was an epic and agonising waiting game. The results are a testament to his patience and steely nerve.

It’s made with estate grown Pinto Noir by the Ancre Hill team, who have long shunned the use of chemicals, or any other nasty business in the vineyard or winery.

Not only is this wine certified biodynamic and organic - Richard and his fellow winemaker Jean du Plessis go one step further and promote regenerative winemaking meaning that they actually work to improve the ecosystem of the vineyard making it a paradise for birds, insects, reptiles, fish and even happy soil microbes.

Once picked the fruit undergoes 100% whole bunch maceration for between 30 – 50 days before loooong ageing on gross lees and being finished in oak and stainless steel. Natural MLF, no filtration, no fining, typically bottled with only a tiny addition of SO2.

It’s unfiltered and unfined too meaning it’s vegan friendly - though it would be just the tipple for a cheeky leg of Welsh lamb!

Wales - 2020 - 11% - 75cl

Vegan - Vegetarian - Organic - Biodynamic - Low intervention - Lower alcohol
