Château George 7 Blanc, Fronsac, Bordeaux
Seven heaven
Tastes like: Zesty Citrus. Floral. Lemongrass. Mineral. Persistent finish.
We were already head of heels for the red wine from this remarkable Bordeaux estate so imagine our jubilation at discovering the white wine is equally worth falling for!
This debut vintage made with Sauvignon Blanc is complex, expressive and persistent on the finish - with a lovely texture after 6 months in old Burgundian oak - what’s not to like!
Sally Evans is an Englishwoman who is giving the local vignerons a run for their money.
Having ditched the rat race she took the plunge and sought her own vineyard and it was picturesque Fronsac on Bordeaux’s right bank which stole her heart.
She promptly set out to turn a dilapidated farmhouse and its rather unloved vines into one of the most hotly-tipped estates in the region.
Sustainability is a key philosophy here. Her first decision was to ditch the oft-routine spraying and chemical treatments which this vineyard previously endured and it is now a beacon of biodiversity and natural viticulture.
Mindful of carbon footprints her lightweight bottles also have the highest possible percentage of recycled glass - nice.

“Gently lilting aromatics, a pulse of mineral, savoury lemongrass and gentle citrus with a mouthwatering finish.”
