Tair Gafr are small vineyard in South Wales who dream of producing quality Welsh wines, while preserving the biodiversity and the nature in and around our vineyard.
Their philosophy optimises regenerative winemaking, employing organic practices and supporting the ecosystem - they even have a host of resident animals on site including alpacas, pygmy goats and miniature sheep (which also save on mowing the grass between the sun soaked Welsh vines!)
"Oes Gafr Eto" (pronounced Oys Gavr Ehto) comes from their inaugural vintage and the name originates from the opening line of the Welsh folk song "Cyfri'r Geifr" which translates to "Counting the Goats" and also the origin of the vineyard’s name: Tair Gafr Wines.
This characterful natural rosé is made using Regent and Orion grapes, whole bunch carbonic macerated and fermented using wild yeasts. Juice was left in its skins for nine days giving it a lovely hue before maturing and undergoing malolactic in stainless steel before being bottled unfiltered.
Tair Gafr work with Wales-based natural winemaking maestro David Morris at Mountain People Wines, who ensures that the low intervention approach is followed through right until bottling.
