Tair Gafr are small vineyard in South Wales who dream of producing quality Welsh wines, while preserving the biodiversity and the nature in and around our vineyard.

Their philosophy optimises regenerative winemaking, employing organic practices and supporting the ecosystem - they even have a host of resident animals on site including alpacas, pygmy goats and miniature sheep (which also save on mowing the grass between the sun soaked Welsh vines!)

"Gafr Goch" (pronounced Gavr Goch - "ch" as in the composer Bach) comes from the second vintage from this burgeoning vineyard and is their first red wine release. The name comes from the opening line of the Welsh folk song "Cyfri'r Geifr" which translates to "Counting the Goats" and also the origin of the vineyard’s name: Tair Gafr Wines.

This fabulous natural red wine is made using Regent grape varieties, harvested following rather a topsy turvy growing season in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Once the grapes are harvested, Tair Gafr with Wales-based natural winemaking maestro David Morris at Mountain People Wines, ensuring that the low intervention approach is followed through right until bottling.

The grapes were whole bunch carbonic macerated and fermented using wild yeasts. Juice was left in its skins for 30 days before being transferred to oak barrel to mature and undergoing malolactic to round the wine off. The final wine is gravity cleared without any interventional fining process.
