Château Tour Saint Christophe, Saint Émilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux 2016
WHAT HAPPENS ON TOUR…
Tastes like: Blackberry. Creme de Cassis. Black Cherry. Sweet Spice. Herbal. Floral. Cigar Box. Leather.
Hidden amongst the big guns of Bordeaux’s Right Bank are some rather remarkable wines of exceptional quality which give you enormous bang for your buck.
Tour Saint Christophe is firmly placed in the ranks for these underdog estates and is one of the region’s best kept secrets.
Each year this Grand Cru château is one of the first to release their wines for the en primeur campaign and the critics LOVE it - with the 2016 vintage achieving scores as high as 97/100.
The wine is rich and concentrates red but beautifully put together. The grapes are also grown following organic and biodynamic practices so there’s no hidden nasty stuff - just bodacious juice.
The 2016 Tour Saint-Christophe is made up of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and it was aged in 40% new, 40% one-year-old and 20% two-year-old oak for 18 months.
These bottles are drinking rather nicely already but can also be stored away to further develop over at least the next two decades.
Our LAID DOWN & TANNIN range features wines which we’ve bought on release from the Chateau and allowed to age in bonded storage before plucking them from our stash so that you can snaffle them away yourself or give them to a wine loving chum as a gift to enjoy (together hopefully) in years to come.

”Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it sings of roses, chocolate-covered cherries, redcurrant jelly and cinnamon stick with touches of cigar box and forest floor. Big, full-bodied and richly fruited yet with great tension, it has a compellingly perfumed palate and gorgeous velvety texture with great persistence. Nov 2018
