Baron de Badassière, Viognier IGP Côtes de Thau
All for wine and wine for all...
Tastes like: Fresh. Crunchy. Clean. Almond. Honey. Guava. Apricot. Refreshing. Acidity.
A modern Viognier which heralds from the Picpoul de Pinet region where the warm sunny days and cooling sea breezes allow winemakers to produce the coastal area’s famed white wines. This is a clean, pure and refreshing example of the wonderful Viognier grape.
Back in the 18th century this vineyard was owned by a colourful character called Baron Charles Emmanuel who was rumoured to be the illegitimate son of King Louis XV and, assumingly, a bit of a bad boy or badass. Much like these unashamedly young vivacious vins.
The grapes for this wine come from selected vineyards around the Etang de Thau and Picpoul area. The vines are planted on sandy Pliocene soils. The team at Baron de Badassiere is very particular about following the no-intervention policy while making wines. Not using any skin contact, not opting for malo-lactic fermentation and not using oak barrels are some of the organic principles followed here.
