Bacchus Lyme Bay, Devon, England
In the Lyme Light
Tastes like: Elderflower, Citrus. Guava. Blackcurrant Leaves. Tropical. Crisp.
Chilled & Tannin co-founder Alex is a Devon lad and has seen first hand how Lyme Bay’s team have long been flying the flag for English wine, having previously forged a reputation making top notch fruit wines and ciders on the Jurassic Coast.
English wine is so hot right now with sales up and new vineyard plantings going through the roof and this is in part (somewhat sadly) thanks to global warming but also as a result of producers like this striving to make modern, precise wines and championing grapes like Bacchus, which has been adopted by growers across the nation thanks to it’s grassy and zesty aromatic qualities.
And this wine is a truly nationwide affair expertly blending quality Bacchus group from five top trusted vineyards (Great Whitmans (Essex); Sandhurst (Kent); Haygrove Evolution (Herefordshire); Martins Lane (Essex), Old Mill house (Essex), Crouch Valley (Essex).
Each parcel of fruit was fermented in individual lots at low temperatures with specially selected yeast strains before undergoing vinification in stainless steel to enhance Lyme Bay’s fresh and herbaceous house style of Bacchus.
