Phelps Creek is a boutique winery located in Oregon (Columbia Gorge AVA) focusing on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In the 2000s, owner Bob Morus collaborated with Alexandrine Roy, from famous Domaine Roy in Gevrey Chambertin, and now produces classic Burgundian-style wine.
And this terrific Chardonnay is a case in point, offering a generous, rich and classic palate, thanks to 11 months ageing in in French oak barrels (10% of which is new oak for added impact).
The estate is nestled in the picturesque Hood River valley where the vines grow under the watchful eye of the majestic Mount Hood. The estate has been LIVE certified for sustainable winemaking since 2021 which ticks even more boxes for us too - bravo.
