Don’t call me Shirley...

Tastes like: White stone fruit. Citrus. Apple. Pear. Toast. Salty. Zesty. Hazelnut. Hint of effervescence.

So we welcome a spritzy and textured little number. We simply loved this wine and it represents an authentic example of a classic Muscadet.

Did you know the name Muscadet refers to an alleged characteristic of the wine produced by the Melon grape variety: vin qui a un gout musqué (wine with a musk-like taste).

Thankfully Muscadet wines don't have much, if any, muskiness or muscat-like flavours or aromas any more as you will well find out. Maybe in a time gone by..?

And 'Sur lie' indicates the wine spent extra time sat on its lees to add texture and character - delish.

Domaine de la Noe has a history dating back over 100 years. They have grown since those humble beginnings and now comprised of 60 hectares with modern winemaking facilities and organic practices.

They produce the finest possible wines and Muscadet is having a resurgence, which is helped along by stunning examples like this fine bottle.

France - 2022 - 12% - 75cl

Salty sea-breeze nose, laden with fresh chamomile flowers. Broad summer-hay flavors across the palate with a leesy saline crunch, lemon spiked. Fennel, weaving its sweet liquorice thread through a subtle and understated palate.

Lovely people - lovely wine

Stumbled across Chilled & Tannin when searching for a Muscadet Sur Lie. They are a friendly business tucked away and also have a cafe if you are strolling near the river/stadium. As to the wine, delicious dry wine that compliments fish/seafood or with a cheeky paella. At £9 a bottle is is fairly priced and well worth it. Thanks again
