Zapallares Sauvignon Blanc Reserva, San Antonio
Tastes like: Citrus zest. Elderflower. Grassy. Exotic fruit.
Zapallares winemaker Jose Tomas Larrain Abalo thinks of the sea when he sips on his rather splendid sustainable Sauvignon Blanc.
Chile produces some decent, ripe and fruity examples from this famous grape but here in San Antonio the cooling ocean breezes allow Jose to create a Sauvignon Blanc which gives many of New Zealand’s wines a run for their money.
Racy acidity, zingy elderflower and a delicious breezy grassiness make this wine one of our top picks and an absolute steal for under a tenner.
