Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie, Chateau du Coing de St. Faicre, Loire
Hello? Is it lees you're looking for?
Tastes like: Peach. Green apple. Lemon. White flowers. Minerality. Hay. Slight pétillance.
This cracking Loire white has spent 6 months maturing on its lees (the perished yeast which so selflessly sacrificed themselves to turn grape juice into tasty wine) and the result in a wine which is fresh but with a rich texture and complexity.
Sèvre de Maine is considered the best place district to grow Melon de Bourgogne (a.k.a. Muscadet grapes) and winemaker Véronique Günther-Chéreau’s old vines are located on South facing schist soils close to where the rivers Sèvre and Maine converge.
