Burgenland Blaufränkisch/St. Laurent`Junge Löwen`, Heidi Schröck, Burgenland
School of Schröck
Tastes like: Raspberries. Violets. Mineral. Smooth Tannins.
Heidi Schröck makes masterful sustainable wines (without the use of any herbicides or insecticides) with her twin sons, Johannes and Georg, in the village of Rust located just 5 miles from the Hungarian/Austrian border.
Located on the banks of Lake Neusiedl the town is named after the local, loamy, limestone soil “Ruster Schotter” (Rust crushed rock) as the lake was once part of the Pannonian Sea.
"Junge Löwen" means young lions and this wine is a roaring success; a blend of bold, spicy Blaufränkisch (85%) with silky, smoky St Laurent (15%), aged in old oak barrels.
A 'big wine for every day drinking', it has an attractive ruby colour, vibrant character and long finish.
