Duque de Viseu, Dão Tinto
Dão me a River (of Wine)
Tastes like: Black cherries. Plum Jam. Raspberry. Balsamic. Supple ripe tannins.
Dão is one of Portugal's most prominent wine regions and is located just below the famous Douro valley. The wines have really started to shine recently and this is a great example. This wine is a modern Dão red blend made from indigenous grapes, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Jaen Tinto.
The varieties were vinified separately, before being blended and a proportion was aged in French oak for six months. The wine has lovely aromas with some lovely smooth tannins. Got to be tried and will delight many evenings, it did for us.
