Domaine Lamy-Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Pot Bois 2018
Hit the jack-pot
Tasted like: Yellow apple. Lime. Cantaloupe Melon. Blossom and Jasmin. Smokey. Savoury. Toasty. Biscuit. Vanilla. Sweet Spice.
This wine is as authentic as they come - made with some of Burgundy’s best Chardonnay grapes plucked from the Pot Bois vineyard, a modest plot of only 1.7 hectares which is farmed without using chemicals.
It’s Chardonnay at it’s very best! An opulent, complex and yet elegant wine with a long finish, in part thanks to 12-18 patient months ageing in oak barrels, 25% of which are new oak.
There’s a LOT going on in this glass. Citrus, apple and floral notes alongside smokey struck flint, baking spice and a savoury hints. On the palate it's more of the same - a harmonious balance between the body and alcohol and acidity.
We’ve got our hands on a very limited parcel of these rather cult bottles so snap them up quickly - it’s a perfect Christmas Day wine. Bottom’s up.
