Ams Tram Gram les Sacrés Rébus Blanc, AOP Languedoc
2020 Vision
Tastes like: Russet apple. Apricot. Ripe Pear. Honeysuckle. Mandarin. Jasmine. Spice.
Let’s face it, in many respects the world events of 2020 made it a year to forget - but for the canny winemakers at Calmel & Joseph this (actually very decent) Languedoc vintage gave them the clarity of mind to create an exciting new white blend from sustainable vineyard plots. It's so good it's since become a staple in their cellars.
The wine has a voluptuous body, ripe fruit flavours and a lovely tangy finish. It’s made with 30% Grenache Blanc, 30% Roussanne, 20% Viognier and 20% Vermentino.
It’s a wine that will continue to develop in the bottle too, with the bright Vermentino shining now - but lay it down and the Roussanne will develop and add an unctuous twang.
The team at Calmel & Joseph farm much of their plots organically and sustainability and have lower intervention at the heart of what they do, so this is truly a bodacious wine with a conscience!
And the motto on the back of the label sums up their hands-off approach; "ici le hasard a bon goût" (a.k.a. Whatever you choose, it'll be good!)
