Petit Chablis, Domaine D'Elise Frederic Prain, Burgundy
Nothing Petit about me...
Tastes like: Stone fruit. Flint. Fresh citrus. Tangy. Dry. Steely.
Despite only coming from up the road in Paris, winemaker Frederic Prain is considered to be a bit of an outsider in Chablis. He picks his grapes late and tries to make his wines as accessible as possible (he jokingly calls himself the EasyJet of Chablis) but when we looked for a Chablis for our range this wine blew the competition out of the sky.
His tiny pocket sized 13 ha estate sits on the slopes at Milly, just above the Premier Cru vineyards of Cote de Lechet so the terroir is certainly more first class than economy.

"A firm, dry, flinty nose with elegant stony fruit on the palate. There’s no great depth but it’s elegant and fresh"
Lovely crisp and chilled (easy done with outside weather). Got it for special occasion and it did the job!
