Solaris, Velfrey, Pembrokeshire
A fine debut
Tastes like: Citrus. White Peach. Elderflower. Crisp. Lights. Delicate.
We’re very partial to a glass of Solaris - it’s a tantalising grape which is making a real name for itself in the exciting vineyards of Wales.
It is a canny hybrid variety which loves the moderate (and only occasionally damp) climate. It’s parentage includes Pinot Gris (aka Pinot Grigio) and noble Riesling, so it’s no wonder it makes white wine packed with zesty citrus and aromatic floral characteristics.
This is the inaugural Solaris bottling from the winemakers at Velfrey and based on this terrific tipple we pray it’ll be the first of very many!
It’s an elegant and expressive wine that’s perfect paired with cheese, cold cuts, Summer sunshine and the smell of fresh cut lawns and abundant flowerbeds.
