Frédéric Berne, Beaujolais Lantignié `Pierre Bleue`

This is a wonderful example of a top notch and characterful Beaujolais. Coming from Frédéric Berne. The 'Pierre Bleue' is in reference to the soil on the eastern side of the Lantignié, where the soil is predominately clay. Frédéric has a connection with the land having grown up on a working farm. He has a love affair with wine and its ability to express the land. 

This wine is created using minimal intervention and natural yeasts. This all results in a lovely deep purple liquid in the glass which gives you fresh fruitiness with subtle tannins, minerality and a rustic edge. Like a sophisticated French femme fatale who grew up on a farm.
